Summer Youth Bands

Our Summer bands will provide a fun atmosphere for continuation and growth of young musicians.  We will likely form 2 bands; one for beginners and one for  the Middle school level.  We will evaluate the musicians during the first couple of rehearsals.  At this time, rehearsals will be from 10-12 for one band and 2-4 p.m. for the second.  Lessons may be available between and after rehearsals.
The repetoire will include everything from "Star Wars," to rock, to classical.
As with all of our ensembles, tuning, articulations and accuracy will be emphasized.  We plan to set up performances for the bands mid to late summer.

Cost is only $75 for the summer.
First rehearsal will be June 12.  It will run until mid August.

Professional musicians will drop by from time to time to lend a hand.  This being our first summer, much is flexible at this point.  Please, let us know your interest as soon as is possible so we can make the most of the time we have!
This program has the full support of local music teachers!
You can contact us via phone, email, or fill out the form on the "contact us," page.

The youth band is designed to give young musicians 6th grade through college a musically challenging opportunity with excellent brass instruction.  The band plays traditional British Brass Band repertoire and performs several times a year including at the, "Masters of Brass," concert with the  Spokane British Brass Band.

British Brass Bands have a rich tradition of playing difficult music in a competitive setting.  The instrumentation is generally 1 Eb Soprano Cornet, 10-12 Bb cornets, 1 flugel horn, 3 tenor horns, 2 baritones, 2 euphoniums, 3-4 trombones, 2 Eb tubas and a few Bb tubas.  Percussion really varies.  The band supplies the unusual instruments.

We focus on intonation, sight reading, articulations and ensemble balance.  The musicians have a lot of fun learning to be excellent brass players and gain pride and cofidence in their abilities.
