All work is warranteed for 90 days.  Annual maintenance is recommended.  Damage due to “kids being kids” is not part of the warranty.  Pads, corks and adjustments are.
I am a parent and a musician.  I try to be a reasonable as possible.
We recommend slide protectors for student trombones.  They only cost $6 but can save more than 10x their cost in one year.  Valve casing protectors are also a good idea.  They cost a little more and do not prevent all damage but do protect against nicks which cause about 75% of the repairs on valves.
